Healthy Basketball Madness Food

Toronto is going crazy. It is amazing. I mean, people in the streets with signs losing it amazing. Why? The Raptors are in the Conference finals!!! I, personally, love basketball, but I don’t watch it often. I am so happy that the city has a team it can rally behind *coughLeafsCough* and be proud of. And, luckily, with success comes something else – FOOD! And that’s where I come in 🙂

Usually we’re looking forward to crazy waist-expanding wigs, pizza, dips, etc. But it doesn’t have to be that way. It also doesn’t have to bland and boring like trying to nibble on a broccoli and pretend it’s a chicken wing. It doesn’t matter HOW much you sauce it – it’s just not that same! So what I am doing for you is letting you in on some healthy ways to celebrate watching the games with your friends.

So without further adieu – Here are your new Favourite game day recipes!

Who doesn’t LOVE BBQ? And chicken? And pizza? No one, that’s who. Pizza was recently discovered as being the most addictive food. I mean, no one can resist – so why bother. Eat this one and save the guilt for something else!

2. Cajun Shrimp Guacamole bites

O.M.G. I mean, these puppies are amazing! This is a great 2-4-1 recipe in that you get sweet potato chips as well! Those will come in handy later for an amazing…

3. Veggie Loaded 7-Layer Dip

I mean, come on. This dip looks amazing. Even men love it (who can blame them, really) and it’s tough to get them to even eat something without meat in it. Maybe just don’t tell them there isn’t any and let them find out for themselves. 😉

4. Smoked Salmon and Cheese Mini-Twice Bakes Potatoes

Ok, 2 things here – 1, they’re mini, so YAY. Who doesn’t love mini foods?? Me. I don’t NOT love mini foods. And 2 – Twice Baked Potato. That, my friends, is generally an off limits kind of food when you’re trying to eat healthier. Between the “carbs” and the saturated fat and salt in the bacon? Danger Zone!

NB: If you don’t watch Archer, start – but don’t let it get in the way of the game!

BONUS! If you were just looking to make a ton of sweet potato chips at home, this recipe pretty much goes step by step by step, which is great as well as giving you nice seasoning ideas.

5. Crispy Baked Sweet Potato Chips

Bon appétit, folks! Let’s cheer on the home team! #wethenorth

Wait…you would like something sweet too??? Totally get that. If you wanted to make the strawberries in the posts’s featured image – (I mean, how cute are those things???) make sure you grab organic berries. Remember these are on the top of the Dirty Dozen list!!
